Ways to Work With WellSprings Youth

Ways to Work With WellSprings Youth

Serve to connect youth, families and the whole of WellSprings

YouthBridge Core Ministry – join this new, tentatively-named core ministry to create new connections and opportunities for all WellSprings children, ages 0-17, their families, and our congregation, to grow together.

Expected to meet monthly or more.

Foster Teen Connection

Teen Group – our fledging teen group currently meets several times a year for social or service opportunities.  Past outings have included escape rooms, indoor obstacle courses, and game night.  We need organizers, chaperones, drivers …and teens of course, willing to explore connecting with their WellSprings peers.

Organizers meet quarterly; events are typically monthly.

Support our Tweens/early teens

OWL Facilitator – Facilitating Our Whole Lives (known as OWL, a UUA created and sanctioned human sexuality program), working with our 7-9th graders.  WellSprings offers this program every other year.  There is UUA OWL training available for virtually all age groups.  As WellSprings grows, it’s possible a need for additional OWL programs, to reach groups beyond grades 7-9 (including younger) may present itself.

Currently entails 3 days certified UUA training, thirteen Sunday OWL gatherings, weekly planning time, plus a parent-orientation.

Tween Group  – we’d love to initiate a tween/younger teen group!

Nurture Kids 5-12 years old

YouthSpirit Lead Mentor – Lead age-specific groups most Sundays during the program year to play games, talk, do crafts, challenge thinking, ponder the world, foster spiritual growth, and create community for our 5-12 year olds.  Lead Mentors are provided with a plan for each Sunday, and, they are encouraged to bring their own ideas for content as well.

Most Sundays 9:30am September through May.

YouthSpirit Classroom Helper – work with kids on rotating weeks during our Sunday YouthSpirit gatherings to support Lead Mentors and foster a communal experience.

One to three Sundays per month.

YouthSpirit SpringBoard (YSSB) Facilitator – Help YouthSpirit kids understand your passions!  Our YSSBs are typically 4-week, themed gatherings offered by our WellSprings teams and ministries three times each program year.  These gatherings help our kids learn what makes WellSprings “tick”.  What makes you “tick”?  If you have a special skill or passion you wish to share with our growing members, consider signing up for one of next year’s YSSBs.

Four Sundays during 9:30am YouthSpirit, plus planning.

YouthSpirit Mystery Reader – who will be the first?!  We would love for congregants to join our young friends for some story time one Sunday.

Care for our Youngest 0-5 years old

Nursery backup volunteer – be on call to lend a hand in the nursery during service on rotating Sundays, and occasionally sub-in for our two caregivers.
