WellSprings is hiring for a part-time role on our Staff Team: our Community Engagement Coordinator! The person who fills this role will help us tell our story – through social media, our website, and all of our other communications channels – to people both inside and outside of the congregation. About WellSprings:
WellSprings Congregation is a progressive spiritual community of ~200 adults, teens, and children in Chester County, PA. A member of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, our mission is to be a community “charged full with the charge of the soul” – where spirituality is not understood as something fixed and ancient, but as relevant to how we live our everyday lives. About the Position:
Our Community Engagement Coordinator engages people inside and outside of WellSprings with our congregation’s programs, culture, and mission. This person must be creative, thoughtful, relatable, consistent, and proactive in their work. As the curator of WellSprings’ public voice, website, and social media presence, the person who fills this role must be comfortable representing our congregation’s mission, values, and commitments wholeheartedly as they perform their duties.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate WellSprings’ internal communications and external outreach, sharing our story in a way that encourages connection and engagement with our mission. Evaluate and refine our communications strategy as needed to align with our annual congregational goals.
- Create, edit, and collaborate as needed to produce engaging content (written, visual, video/audio, etc.) that keeps internal and external audiences accurately informed about happenings in the life of WellSprings, and that reflects our community’s values.
- Manage all content and distribution to WellSprings’ communication channels (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, website, e-mail blasts, and printed materials). Develop and implement sustainable schedules for regular distribution, as well as periodic “bursts” to highlight specific topics or respond to special circumstances.
- Maintain the WellSprings website, including basic back-end maintenance, drafting and posting of news articles, and publication of an accurate, up-to-date calendar for WellSprings events.
- Maintain our electronic files, and all communication channels internal to the congregation, through management of WellSprings’ Google Workspace account.
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and periodic staff retreats.
Key Qualifications:
- Excellent content creation and social media management skills, specifically on Meta platforms (Instagram, Facebook) and YouTube.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to adapt and revise content according to its intended audience and method of distribution. Ability to tell a compelling story, and write in the congregation’s “voice.” Ability to adjust a message, without losing its essence or clarity, to reflect the appropriate emotion, tone, and style for its context.
- Strong visual communication skills, including an eye for composition in photographs and video images, design and layout of publications, and the ability to edit for and present needed information clearly on the page/screen.
- Strong aptitude for working collaboratively in a team environment, composed of both staff and volunteers.
- Strong ability to organize time, prioritize tasks, work efficiently, and communicate proactively and reliably with others regarding deadlines or delays.
- Ability to use Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Powerpoint), and web-based computer applications, including aptitude for learning and working with new systems.
- Ability to receive and transmit sensitive information (e.g. pastoral requests, member challenges, etc.) with discretion and/or confidentiality, as appropriate.
- Proficiency in any of the following areas is a plus: graphic design, web design, video/audio production, video/audio editing, photography/videography.
- Familiarity with programs like Constant Contact, WordPress, Canva, Filmora, or Realm church management software; and/or connections with community institutions in and around Chester County, PA is also considered a plus.
Reports to: Executive Minister
Hours: 12 hours per week, year-round, on a flexible schedule* to include at least two full days off per week. *The person who fills this position must be available for occasional Sunday morning hours on an as-needed basis, in person at our congregation’s physical location in Chester Springs – but regular weekly hours can be worked remotely.
Compensation & Benefits:
- This is a part-time position with a salary of $13,104 per year ($21/hr).
- Benefits include 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO) during each fiscal year; and two weeks of paid Study Leave per year, to be used for major projects, long-term planning, or training and professional development.
