Back in the Fall of 2020, we created a new small group at WellSprings in response to the huge wave of national attention on racial justice issues after the murder of George Floyd. Nearly 30 WellSprings members joined us – along with another dozen for our second year of the group in 2021 – and left with new skills, knowledge, and commitments to continue showing up against racism.
In 2023, we’d like to offer the same space for growth, learning, and action, to a new group. As before, our small group will be scheduled a little differently than most at WellSprings. Recognizing the long-term nature of racial justice work, we will gather twice monthly from January through June for both discussion and practice sessions. In between sessions, participants will be asked to read, watch, and listen to various sources, and to take a monthly action. Our goal is not to “complete” something, but rather for each person to learn, grow, find their part in this work, and leave the group equipped and energized to continue it.
