Every week I can’t believe this is part of my job – I get to work with kids, do crafts, share stories, exchange ideas, and play games each Sunday morning. I have the privilege of working with a wonderful group of staff and volunteers, essential to bringing our nursery, YouthSpirit and teen programs to our families year-round, and am additionally blessed to work alongside my amazing WellSprings colleagues. But most importantly, I am grateful for the opportunity to plant a few seeds of kindness, compassion, a sense of social justice, and joy in these future grown-ups (alongside WellSprings parents, of course)! After returning to work as my children grew, I worked in the Downingtown Area School District for nine years; there I discovered just how much I continued to enjoy being around and working with children. Taking on a few hours a week here at WellSprings as YouthSpirit Coordinator in 2016, I eventually left my position at the school to embrace my work here at WellSprings fully. Since then my professional journey continues as I learn from Unitarian Universalist colleagues, program offerings, workshops, and seminars, both regionally and nationally. As WellSprings continues to expand and evolve in our offerings for all youth, I will work to bring the values and beliefs of our congregation to the youngest among us. It is my sincerest hope our programs will nurture lasting bonds among our youth, and foster deep connections with our entire beloved community.
