This annual initiative helps us to join in the fight against food insecurity in our area. Whereas most homeless shelters are meant for adults by law, this shelter is <mark style=\"background-color:#fff\" class=\"has-inline-color\">specifically dedicated to unhoused families.<\/mark> Each family stays a minimum of 8 weeks, has their own family bedroom, and shares communal dining, living rooms, and bathrooms. The shelter serves approximately 25% of Chester County&#8217;s unhoused families.&nbsp; Their goal is to be the bridge from homelessness to stable living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 36 years<strong><em><u>,<\/u><\/em><\/strong> a hot dinner has been prepared by an amazing list of local churches and groups including Wellsprings! Twice a year, HeartWorks Team members request assistance from our congregants with the preparation of dinner meals for 5 days &#8211; each family or individual providing a portion of a meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-main-color\">Better Days Ahead<\/mark><\/strong> <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-main-color\">(BDA)<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bdaoutreach.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"315\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wellspringsuu.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7027\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wellspringsuu.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-1.png 315w, https:\/\/www.wellspringsuu.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-1-300x171.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bdaoutreach.org\/\">BDA<\/a> concentrates solely on unhoused individuals, delivering survival gear and clothing, specifically in our home areas of Phoenixville, Pottstown, Royersford, Spring City, and Norristown; as well as Kensington and Philadelphia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2021, WellSprings annual Martin Luther King Day of Service project has been to participate in BDA\u2019s clothing and bedding drive outside City Hall in Philadelphia. Bombas has graciously donated shipments of socks for HeartWorks to distribute throughout our surrounding communities. In 2022 alone, HeartWorks Team members distributed 9,000 pairs of socks..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-main-color\">Victims of Human Trafficking<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"277\" height=\"182\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wellspringsuu.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7035\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While often perceived as a problem in major cities like Philadelphia, human trafficking victims are more often identified and lured away from neighborhoods in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery counties &#8211; our own backyards. HeartWorks has partnered with local victim advocacy groups to provide needed items like toiletries and clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-main-color\">Giant Food Stores Discount Grocery Card Program<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/onrealm.org\/wellsprings\/give\/CFC\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"227\" height=\"222\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wellspringsuu.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7036\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The HeartWorks Team participates in Giant Food Stores\u2019 grocery card program, <a href=\"https:\/\/onrealm.org\/wellsprings\/give\/CFC\">Cash For Causes<\/a>. Through this initiative, any congregation member may purchase Giant grocery cards through Realm at face value in the following denominations: $25, $50, $100. HeartWorks receives 5% of the total purchased. The purchaser receives the full purchase value of the Grocery cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative helps to supplement the cost of emergency requests from members as well as ongoing projects that would otherwise be unfunded.
