What’s Belonging Sunday?

Coming up on April 11th, WellSprings is celebrating a new twist on an older tradition. Introducing: Belonging Sunday!

In past years, we’ve welcomed new members at a special New Member Sunday Service; usually once in the Spring and once in the Fall. This year, we’re introducing something new. We’re celebrating WellSprings membership at a special service, and we’re inviting our existing members to come meet our newest members as part of this all-ages service.

Rather than offering membership twice a year, we are going to open it up on an ongoing basis. This way, regardless of when someone finds us, or when they decide WellSprings might be their new spiritual home, they can begin the process of membership when it’s convenient for them.

The plan is then to celebrate ALL members – those who are just joining us this year, and those who have been with us for a long time – at a special Belonging Sunday service each year. We will take a few moments out of the service to recognize those who have joined WellSprings recently, and we will facilitate ways for them to make new and lasting connections within the congregation, beginning with a luncheon directly after the service.

This year, still being in the midst of a pandemic, our Belonging Sunday might not be as grand a celebration as we envision it will be eventually. But we’re committed to making this a special, if distanced, day nonetheless.

We hope you’ll join us on Sunday, April 11th at our 10 AM service on YouTube. Along with a celebration of all WellSprings members, Rev. Lee will be welcoming some individuals and families who have recently joined our congregation. Afterwards, the Belonging Team will be hosting our 11 AM Coffee Hour to help make introductions and connections.

You might remember that we traditionally present new members with a small gift. We have something in mind for that this year as well.
